Yesteryear Collection

It is believed that The Essex Constabulary dog section began in 1953, with 2 officers and 2 dogs. The officers were detective constable Danny Hare who’s German shepherd was called Senta and detective constable Peter Cousins who’s Doberman was called Remoh. Dog handlers were members of the C.I.D. but they wore uniform whilst engaged on night duties. This carried on until 1969.
Today’s Essex Police have 47 dog handlers who each have their own dogs. There are additional dogs that are trained to “Sniff Out” drugs and explosives. Constable Steve Wynn of the Essex Police Force has commissioned this, his third model to once again raise money for the Essex Police memorial fund.
